Additions and remodeling:

Remodeling and or adding on to your home can be complicated and sometimes render unwanted results if you do not start by having a plan. Hudson Home Designs has over 14 years of experience in both building and designing home additions and remodeling.

What do I need before I get started?

First and most crucial, if you plan to add on to your home you will need to obtain a Site Plan with your existing structure located on it. If the add-on seems to extend past your Site envelope. You may have to apply for a varriance.

What to expect:

On-site consultation: This is to see firsthand what needs are to be addressed. We will dimension and note all applicable elements and issues. We will continue to listen to all the ideas you have and suggest the most economical way to execute.

First review: This is when we combine all field measurements and notes with suggestions and ideas to produce a rough draft for you review. For your convenience this will be emailed to you unless otherwise requested.

Fine tuning the project: Is when the process is sent back and forth until you are completely satisfied with the complete project.

Final Set: After you agree the project is exactly what you want we will proceed to finalize all applicable information and requirements in preparation for construction. Now you are ready to build.

Foundation complete with dimensions, dimensioned plumbing and referenced details.

Roof plan Square footage table.
Rafter plan with complete rafter lengths and separate rafter cut list.
Cornice (Eve) and Special Details designed directly from the plan (not typical details).
Floor Plan(s) complete with dimensions, plumbing, appliances, cabinets sizes and notes.
Interior Elevations including cabinets, electrical and special construction notes.
Applicable Floor joist plan complete with spans, sizes and direction.
Ceiling Joist plan complete with spans, sizes and direction.
Applicable Sections complete with dimensions, notes and specifications.

As an added free service: We will email you the complete set of working drawings (PDF) to keep for your records. Hudson Home Designs can also help with arranging local builders and or subcontractors you choose to pick up and drop off plans for bids. This will eliminate the need for you to schedule time away from work and family getting the prices together for your project. Please keep in mind that we will continue to answer questions that anyone may have during the complete construction phase.
